According to a recent Times of Malta article, Malta’s ‘A+’ long-term rating has been confirmed with a stable outlook. It was also predicted that the country’s GDP will return to pre-pandemic levels in the second half of this year*.
With the GDP’s optimistic growth figures expected to be in the region of 6.1% for the latter part of 2022, Malta’s real estate market is surging ahead unabated. Unaffected by previous jitters in financial markets and the effect of global pandemics, the robust nature of Malta’s property market has proven that it is somewhat of an anomaly in the EU. Local prices continue to climb, although at a more realistic pace and new construction projects are still evident across the entirety of the country.
With an aggressive marketing campaign underway by local government about the benefits of investing in Maltese real estate such as no wealth tax, no inheritance taxes and various other benefits available to EU property investors, there seems to be little or no stopping the islands’ call for foreign and local investors to get a slice of its idyllic properties set in dreamy locations. Market trends have seen increased demand by investors for upmarket and bigger properties that offer superb lifestyle opportunities, a fact which we at Homes of Quality can attest to.
